German Film Days
30. March 2026
It is with great pride that we once again welcome you to German Film Days at the city’s arthouse cinema from April 19 to April 23. This year, we present no fewer than eight brand-new titles, taking audiences in many different directions.
What is happening in German cinema right now? The answer is: a lot – and in many directions.
This year’s German Film Days take us to the biggest international stages, while also diving deep into the more hidden layers of both film art and German society. The program includes films that have premiered in Cannes, Berlin, and Venice – as well as films that dare to remain intimate, unconventional, and attentive to the overlooked.
We are delighted to once again welcome Christian Petzold, who returns with Miroirs No. 3. The program also features Kirill Serebrennikov’s The Disappearance of Josef Mengele, which—like Petzold’s film—premiered in Cannes.
From the Berlin International Film Festival, we present, among others, Frédéric Hambalek’s What Marielle Knows, Petra Volpe’s Late Shift (opening film), and Faraz Shariat’s State Security. From Venice, we bring Ildikó Enyedi’s Silent Friend.
In other words, we are operating at the highest level—without losing our curiosity. Because German Film Days is also about discovering what lies just beneath the surface: the ideas, movements, and stories shaping contemporary Germany.
Look forward, among other highlights, to a powerful film about Hannah Arendt’s life and thinking—and to a pulsating journey into Berlin’s techno scene in Rave On, where the night never truly ends.
Welcome to a festival where we both look outward—and move in close.
