The gangster enforcer Jack Carter is the very embodiment of no-nonsense attitude and became an instant signature role for Michael Caine in 1971. Carter returns to his childhood home of Newcastle upon Tyne to investigate the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death.

He is met with a wall of silence within his brother’s criminal circle and is “encouraged” by a local crime boss and porn mogul to head straight back to London. Carter, of course, ignores the warning, as it quickly becomes clear that his brother did not die in a car accident.
